Gupta to accelerate product development and streamline the restaurant food supply chain

Choco, the tech leader digitalizing the food value chain to reduce food waste globally, today announced that Vikas Gupta has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Gupta will lead the company's engineering department and build out the technology infrastructure necessary to support the recovering restaurant industry and streamline the food supply chain. He joins the company effective immediately.

“Having worked pre- to post-IPO at two of the most successful technology companies in the world (Facebook and Uber), Vikas will not build a true world class engineering organisation at Choco. We are thrilled to have him on board as we continue to scale,” said Daniel Khachab, CEO and Co-Founder of Choco. “We are seeing first signals of purely organic hyper growth and need to build the technological infrastructure and deliver high user-value to support this trend. We have a huge opportunity to reduce food waste on a global scale and our technology will enable us to do so. Vikas will be instrumental in bringing these innovations to the market and he will be a key leader in our ambitions to create a more sustainable food system. More than that Vikas will build a team of world class engineers at Choco, which will be unique to Berlin.”

A seasoned technology executive, Gupta comes to Choco with over 15 years of experience in Silicon Valley, developing impactful products and building stellar engineering teams. He was most recently director of engineering at Dropbox responsible for all HelloSign customer experiences, and previously head of engineering for Uber financial products, including Uber Money, Uber Cash and Uber Rewards. He spent years as the partner engineering manager responsible for mobile partnerships at Facebook. He holds a Masters in Computer Science from Indiana University Bloomington and a Bachelors of Engineering from Maharshi Dayanand University.

“I’m so excited to start this journey with Choco to transform the food supply chain, developing technology for restaurants to thrive while driving food sustainability, and reducing food waste on a mass scale,” said Gupta. “I joined Choco for the challenge of building things from the ground up, the opportunity to build a world class engineering organization out of Berlin and to have an impact on a problem that I believe is crucial for future generations. There is much work ahead of us to digitize the food industry and the need for innovative back of house technology has never been more important.”
